Every day, I put on my uniform in South Florida, knowing I might not come home. That’s the reality of policing in America today for all of my brothers and sisters in law enforcement. But it’s not just the inherent dangers of the job—car chases, violent criminals, and responding to active threats. It’s the disturbing trend of officers being deliberately targeted for attack simply because they wear the badge. This is why Congress must act now and pass the Protect and Serve Act, which would create a federal offense for those who intentionally commit violence against law enforcement officers.

For too long, we’ve watched as criminals have become emboldened, fueled by anti-police rhetoric that dehumanizes those of us who serve. I’ve seen it firsthand in Florida and all over this country—ambush attacks on officers, drive-by shootings targeting patrol cars, and violent criminals actively seeking to harm those sworn to uphold the law.

The numbers don’t lie. According to FBI statistics, law enforcement officer deaths and assaults have surged in recent years, with many of these attacks being premeditated. This isn’t just a crisis—it’s an all-out war on police.

The Protect and Serve Act is more than just another piece of legislation. It’s a vital statement from our federal government that attacks on law enforcement will not be tolerated. The bill would create a new federal offense for knowingly causing serious bodily injury to a law enforcement officer. In cases where the crime results in death, a life sentence could be imposed.

This isn’t about giving cops special treatment; it’s about acknowledging that when criminals target officers, they are attacking the rule of law itself.

Some argue that states already have laws to protect officers and punish violent offenders. But here’s the problem: state-level protections are inconsistent. Florida has strong laws, but what about officers in states where radical prosecutors refuse to enforce them?

The Protect and Serve Act ensures that justice is served regardless of jurisdiction, sending a clear message that violence against police is a national issue, not just a local concern.

I’ve heard the critics claim this law isn’t needed, that police officers aren’t truly at risk. To them, I say: Walk a shift in our shoes. Ride along in our patrol car in the middle of the night. Answer a domestic violence call where a suspect has nothing to lose. Stand at the scene of a crime when a crowd starts to turn against you.

Every officer knows the feeling of being a target. Every officer knows a brother or sister in blue who has been attacked simply for wearing the uniform.

When criminals believe they can attack officers with impunity, it doesn’t just put cops in danger—it emboldens lawlessness, making communities less safe for everyone.

The Protect and Serve Act doesn’t eliminate the risks of policing. But it sends a powerful message that attacking law enforcement officers is attacking the foundation of public safety itself.

It gives prosecutors the tools to hold violent criminals accountable, no matter where they are. It ensures that officers who make the ultimate sacrifice are honored with more than just words, but with real legal consequences for those who seek to harm them.

I love my job. I love serving my community. I took an oath to protect and serve, knowing the risks that come with it. But I shouldn’t have to accept that being ambushed or executed in cold blood is just part of the job.

Congress has the power to make a difference. It’s time to stand with law enforcement, to back the men and women who keep our communities safe, and to send a clear message: If you target police officers, you will face federal justice.

I implore Congress to pass the Protect and Serve Act before another officer’s name is added to the memorial wall.

Andrew LaFramboise is an active Police Officer, and serves as the District Director of the Florida State Lodge Fraternal Order of Police in Broward, Hendry and Collier Counties. He is also the President of the Hollywood Fraternal Order of Police.

Byron Donalds-I arrived in the Sunshine State at 17 years old on a Greyhound bus, with a trunk full of clothes and a dream.

Now is the time to keep the best state in the country as the best state in the country.

Tonight, I am proud to announce my candidacy to be the next governor of Florida.

Erika Donalds-My husband @ByronDonalds

is the American dream personified.

Faith in God, grit, kindness, character & a heart of service brought him to this moment in history.

He was instrumental in Trump’s victory. Now he will faithfully steward Florida’s future.

I couldn’t be more proud.

Sen. Jason Pizzo-Not sure where the time went, but I’m sure of this - tonight, I said goodbye to a tough, brave and loyal young man, who will give the @USMC

his very best. He’s one of the few, and I’m one of the very proud. I love you, Jack.

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) recently praised U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi for her work just weeks since taking the oath of office as the head of the Department of Justice under President Donald Trump (R).

As a United States Senator, Ted Cruz mentioned that he had interviewed Bondi since becoming Attorney General and asked whether she accomplished her plan in the first two weeks upon entering the position.

Cruz's Statement on Bondi

"So, we interviewed her, and I asked her, 'Alright, first fifteen days, what has been accomplished, what needs to be done?,'" said Sen. Cruz.

Cruz continued, sharing that AG Bondi has taken the appropriate steps to American's safety and a commitment to law and order.

"And I'll tell you, she is very focused on number one, keeping us safe, putting murderers and rapists and child molesters and gang members and terrorists; putting them in jail, securing the border, going after the cartels, going after the people who are threatening our safety, and she is also laser-focused on ending the politicization and weaponization of the Department of Justice and the FBI. Both of those are desperately, desperately needed," said Cruz of Bondi.

AG Bondi offered a plethora of newsworthy moments during her confirmation hearings in the Senate. You can find key moments below:

Bondi's Attorney General Confirmation Hearing

During her confirmation hearing on Jan. 16, Bondi was asked about the 2020 election, the potential pardoning of January 6th protestors, and whether she would be more loyal to the Constitution or President Donald Trump (R).

During the hearing, multiple Democrats reiterated the question of whether President-elect Trump lost the 2020 election. Bondi repeatedly answered by saying that President Joe Biden (D) is currently the Commander-in-Chief, he was "duly sworn in" and that there was a "peaceful transfer of power" in the Oval Office.

Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) followed up with Bondi by asking if she had "any doubts" that Biden had the majority of electoral votes to win in 2020.

She answered by saying that she accepted President Biden as the Commander-in-Chief but witnessed a lot of irregularities during her time on the ground in Pennsylvania during the 2020 election.

Additionally, Durbin asked if Bondi is prepared to pardon those who've been prosecuted for "violent assaults on police officers" during the events of January 6th, 2021.

Her response:

"Senator, if confirmed as Attorney General of the United States, the pardons, of course, fall under the President. But if asked to look at those cases, I will look at each case and advise on a case-by-case basis, just as I did my entire career as a prosecutor."

President Trump granted clemency to nearly 1,600 Jan. 6 protestors on his first day in office.

Furthermore, Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) asked Bondi if she would follow an order from President Trump even if it was deemed "unethical or illegal," and questioned her motives when giving responses in order to be confirmed by the committee.

Bondi responded:

"Senator, first, I need to clarify something that you said, that I have to sit up here and say these things. No, I don't. I sit up here and speak the truth. I'm not going to sit up here and say anything that I need to say to get confirmed by this body, I don't have to say anything. I will answer the questions to the best of my ability, and honestly."

Maxwell Alejandro Frost-U.S. Attorneys are not the President’s lawyers. They are the United States’ lawyers. You didn’t pledge an oath to a President, you pledged it to the constitution. This statement alone is reason enough for you to resign.

Blaise Ingoglia-Today, I filed a proposed constitutional amendment to raise our homestead exemption to $75K that will also be indexed every year for inflation. This is the largest proposed property tax cut ever at $2.6B.

For the record, I totally agree with @GovRonDeSantis

in abolishing homesteaded property taxes altogether but that may take years to get done.

In the meantime, let’s get some property tax relief for Floridians now!

Senator Rick Scott has reintroduced the Protect America’s Innovation and Economic Security from CCP Act, a bill that aims to solidify President Trump’s CCP Initiative under the Department of Justice (DOJ) to "prevent spying from the Chinese Communist Party on U.S. intellectual property and academic institutions."

This program looks to protect America’s best interests by fighting back against the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) attempts to take U.S. data, intellectual property, and trade secrets as well as protect the United States' "critical infrastructure and supply chains from foreign investments."

According to Sen. Scott, the Protect America’s Innovation and Economic Security from CCP Act would accomplish the following for against China:

  • CCP Initiative: Establishes the CCP Initiative within the DOJ’s National Security Division to counter national security threats to American interests.
  • Enforcement:
    • Targets trade secret theft, economic espionage, and cyberattacks by CCP-affiliated entities, including Chinese companies engaged in unfair competition with U.S. businesses, while investigating their investments in the U.S.
    • Strengthens the enforcement of the CFIUS regulations, particularly those related to Chinese investments, by collaborating with the DOT to implement amendments from the Foreign Investment Risk Review Modernization Act.
  • Coordination with Federal Agencies: Mandates collaboration between the DOJ, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and other federal agencies to ensure coordinated efforts to safeguard American infrastructure from foreign threats, particularly in technology and supply chains.
  • Resources and Independence: Ensures independent operation with dedicated resources, distinct from other national security programs within the DOJ, allowing for specialized attention on CCP-related threats.

Sen. Scott shared that this move to reinstate President Donald Trump's (R) policies on China protects American national security and reverses former President Joe Biden's (D) "blind-eye" leadership on the issue.

“The Chinese Communist Party is one of the greatest threats to America’s national security and way of life as it seeks global domination by any means necessary," said Sen. Scott. "President Joe Biden recklessly ended the China Initiative that President Trump established during his first term, turning a blind eye as Communist China committed at least 60 known cases of espionage on the United States and our citizens during his administration."

The former Florida governor continued by saying that this bill will codify President Trump's intentions to hold China accountable for its hostilities against the United States.

"Now, President Trump is back in action to hold Communist China fully accountable for its exploitation of the United States. Our bill, the Protect America’s Innovation and Economic Security from CCP Act, will bring back the successful CCP Initiative to help President Trump face this threat head-on and Make America Safe Again," concluded Scott.

Blaise Ingoglia-The idea that the amount of property taxes one pays is directly connected to the price someone would pay for the home (value) is pretty ridiculous.

Two people living in a $200K home, on average, use about the same amount of government services if they lived in a $1M home.

Jay Collins-Collectively, @Collinslayla and I share over 40 years of military service.

We enlisted in the Army to protect the ideas, ideals, and principles that make America great.

Now, we’re in the fight to make sure we leave a better life for our boys and their generation than the one that was left for us.

Sen. Jason Pizzo-Maybe we should just require e-verify for the companies hiring unauthorized aliens, and we won’t have to wait for traffic stops. Those t-shirts might offer a clue.

Rep. Anna V. Eskamani, PhD -Like so many, I have always admired and respected Senator Geraldine Thompson as a powerful and brave advocate for our community. She was a trailblazer, history maker, & impactful voice for justice. Sending so much love to her family during this difficult time.

Blaise Ingoglia-Senator Thompson had a long history of fighting for what she believed in. She will always be remembered as one of the most respected members ever in the Florida legislature.

Florida lost an icon today.

Our family will be praying for hers.

Sen. Jason Pizzo-Senator Geraldine Thompson has passed. An extraordinary woman, dedicated public servant, doting matriarch, and our dear friend.

The @FLSenate shall strive to honor the passion in her public service, her love for her family, and her truly remarkable legacy.

Danny Burgess-I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of my colleague, fellow Senator Geraldine Thompson. She was a dedicated public servant, representing her community for nearly two decades in the Florida Legislature, and was well-respected by all who had the privilege to know and work with her. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones during this difficult time.

New Senator Ashley Moody (R-FL) discussed President Donald Trump's (R) FBI Director nominee, Kash Patel, during a Judiciary Committee hearing and defended his appointment to the position if confirmed.

Patel's nomination, similar to the nominations of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard, has been met with harsh criticism by a majority of Senate Democrats. However, most Republicans, such as Sen. Moody, have stood by President Trump's cabinet picks as the nation quickly approaches the end of Trump's first month in the White House for a second time.

Sen. Moody began by inferring that Kash Patel's leadership would increase the morale of FBI agents, allowing them to restore public trust in the agency with a return to focusing on "mission-critical" work, shifting from partisan politics.

"The rank and file want to get back to doing their jobs of going after multi jurisdictional criminals, of working hand in hand with state and law enforcement, of bringing to bear the promise of a country and a free people living under a rule of law that is effectually enforced," said Moody.

She continued, supporting Kash Patel's motivations to becoming FBI Director despite accusations of being a self-serving government employee looking to settle old scores.

"And I have to say, I disagree with many people who have said that the morale of [the] FBI will go down if this nominee is confirmed. In fact, I believe quite the opposite. I believe they are ready to stand up and fight and get back to work on mission-critical cases, and that morale will, in fact, go up," said Moody. "I have heard that Kash Patel is out for himself. If that is true, he is out for himself as an American, as someone who believes in the promise of this country, of what its agencies have been created to ensure. and that is to protect the people and their rights, the autonomy of our states."

Finally, Moody concluded her statement by saying Patel will go about his work motivated by "love of country" if confirmed as FBI Director.

"And I believe he will bring to bear that passion and enthusiasm and love of country as the FBI director," said the Florida senator.

Ashley Moody was sworn in as Florida's junior senator on January 21.

MIAMI - Florida GOP Chairman Evan Power congratulated state Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) Secretary Jason Weida Tuesday on his selection as Gov. Ron DeSantis' next chief of staff.

"Congrats to @JasonWeidaFL on becoming the new Chief of Staff to our Governor @RonDeSantis," Power said

Jason Weida, who oversees the state's Medicaid program, has been AHCA secretary since 2023 after being the agency's chief of staff the year prior. Specifically, the agency manages the state's massive $35 billion Medicaid program.

The AHCA also is responsible for licensing the state's healthcare facilities and sharing healthcare data for public policy and information.

Before becoming AHCA secretary, Weida was a lawyer in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), which included working as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Boston, Massachusetts.

He also worked as a counsel in the DOJ's Office of Legal Policy in Washington, D.C.

Specifically, Weida worked alongside the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) at the DOJ and oversaw numerous investigations, including drug diversion investigations of doctor’s offices, pharmacies, and hospitals.

In addition, Weida defended the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) in numerous healthcare litigation matters. Over that time, Weida fought against regulatory challenges, Medicare appeals, and medical malpractice claims against "federally funded community health centers and officers in the Commissioned Corp of the U.S. Public Health Service."

He was also briefly mentioned for a high-ranking federal appointment job in President Donald Trump's first administration.

Earlier in his career, Weida practiced law at Jones Day and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP. He earned a bachelor's degree from Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania and a Juris Doctor from the University of Connecticut School of Law.

Weida replaces James Uthmeier, who is set to become Florida’s Attorney General. The position opened up after DeSantis appointed Ashley Moody to the U.S. Senate after former Sen. Marco Rubio became Secretary of State.

Representative Cory Mills (R-FL) has introduced legislation to destroy diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the federal government, building off of an executive order issued by President Donald Trump.

Naming it the "DEI to DIE" Act, Rep. Mills' bill requires the Attorney General, Office of Personnel Management, and Office of Management and Budget to coordinate the termination of "all DEI mandates, policies, programs, preferences, and activities in the Federal Government."

President Trump issued the order in late January, denouncing DEI as "illegal and immoral discrimination programs" imposed "into virtually all aspects of the Federal Government, in areas ranging from airline safety to the military."

In a statement, Rep. Mills said he was "proud" to introduce the legislation, adding, "We will correct the failures caused by prioritizing woke policies by dismantling DEI-driven programs that have weakened government efficiency and imposed divisive ideologies under the Biden Administration."

"This includes strengthening military readiness, improving the U.S. Secret Service's protective efforts, and fixing education programs that have placed ideology above academic achievement. By restoring merit-based hiring and standards, we are prioritizing performance and unity, we will restore fundamental American principles, and keep national security as our top priority," the Florida Congressman continued.

Mills has been a fierce critic of DEI in the government, suggesting in August that the system had a hand in the numerous security failures of July 13th, 2024, when President Trump was nearly assassinated in Butler, Pennsylvania.

In an appearance on Fox News's Jesse Watters Primetime, Mills said, "Look, this is a culture of a fostered DEI society, whereby they are not trying to send their best. I went through a plethora of lists since 2023 to 2024 of all of the failed and missed steps that have been taken by the Secret Service."

More recently, Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) similarly insinuated that DEI policies degraded the FBI's ability to foil domestic terror plots, pointing to the horrific New Orleans attack at the beginning of the year.

The famed monument began construction in 1927 under Gutzon Borglum and continued through the 1930s. Washington's statue was dedicated in 1930, Jefferson's in 1936, Lincoln's in 1937, and Roosevelt's in 1939, but work was halted in 1941 with America's entry into World War II.

Rep. Luna's ambitious plan is described in her press release, where she explained that Trump's addition represents "the consequential accomplishments made under President Trump's leadership, including economic growth, national security, and a foreign policy that brought peace to the world and put America first."

In a personal statement, the Florida Congresswoman added, "President Trump's bold leadership and steadfast dedication to America's greatness have cemented his place in history. Mount Rushmore, a timeless symbol of our nation's freedom and strength, deserves to reflect his towering legacy—a legacy further solidified by the powerful start to his second term."

"He will be forever remembered among the great like Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt," Rep. Luna concluded.

Luna is not the first member of Congress to seek Trump's immortalization. Representative Guy Reschenthaler (R-PA) introduced a bill in April that would rename Dulles International Airport in Washington, D.C., after Trump.

"In my lifetime, our nation has never been greater than under the leadership of President Donald J. Trump. As millions of domestic and international travelers fly through the airport, there is no better symbol of freedom, prosperity, and strength than hearing 'Welcome to Trump International Airport' as they land on American soil," Rep. Reschenthaler told Fox News.

In June, Representative Paul Gosar (R-AZ) sought to introduce $500 bills featuring Trump's portrait, saying in addition to their value as collector's items, "the issuance of $500 bills featuring President Trump by the Treasury offers several practical advantages. First, larger-value currency will empower Americans with the freedom of more tangible options to save and exchange goods and services. Additionally, the absence of large-denomination currency issued by the Treasury encourages Americans to rely on digital banking, which faces greater vulnerability to surveillance and censorship."

President Donald Trump’s administration has ordered the termination of all of the US government’s Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) offices and employees.

The move comes hours after President Trump’s team shuttered the government’s official DEI website

An executive order signed by Trump on January 20th  directed “the termination of all discriminatory programs, including illegal DEI and “diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility” (DEIA) mandates, policies, programs, preferences, and activities in the Federal Government.”

Trump’s executive order undoes former President Joe Biden’s earlier executive actions to further DEI initiatives by institutionalizing them in the Federal government.

According to Trump’s administration, President Biden’s DEI policies were “illegal and immoral discrimination programs” that were imposed “into virtually all aspects of the Federal Government, in areas ranging from airline safety to the military.”

Conservatives have long opposed DEI initiatives and have lauded Trump’s “merit-based” approach.

Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Brendan Carr, for example, claimed Trump’s cancellation of public DEI programs would “deliver great results for the American people” as he ordered the FCC to terminate all of its DEI programs.

Last week, some public agencies also began to independently close their DEI offices following conservative pressure.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) decided to shut down its DEI central office prior to Trump’s inauguration on January 20th.

FBI DEI initiatives had been subject to harsh criticism from conservative lawmakers, some of whom claimed DEI initiatives may have degraded the FBI’s capacity to prevent terror attacks.

Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) wrote a letter to former FBI Director Christopher Wray citing reports alleging “the law enforcement and intelligence capabilities of the FBI are degrading because the FBI is no longer hiring ‘the best and the brightest’ candidates.”

Trump’s DEI-cancellation executive order is part of a package of 42 other orders Trump signed during his first day in office.

The Sky is Falling! The Sky is Falling!

The sky was falling in Northwest Florida for the first time in many years. It wasn’t rain or hail, but snow. Yes, snow.

South Florida is used to seeing a different type of snow come into the state in neatly packaged blocks, but the cold and fluffy stuff that fell on the Florida Panhandle caused concern for Gov. Ron DeSantis and the Florida Department of Transportation.

Prior to the historic winter storm hitting the “Gulf of America” states, Gov. DeSantis deployed FDOT to use de-icing equipment to treat some 600 state-owned bridges in the region and put utility crews on standby to fix any power outages that could occur.

After the snow fell, Gov. DeSantis joked about the winter wonderland that NW Florida had become, stating,” The blizzard beaches of Northwest Florida.”

Introducing Senator Ashley Moody

Shortly after Senator Marco Rubio was sworn in as Secretary of State, Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody to the oath of office to become the next U.S. Senator from Florida.

“Over the past six years, we secured victories fighting the opioid crisis, locking up human traffickers, pushing back on unlawful immigration policies, revolutionizing organized retail theft investigations, recruiting hundreds of new law enforcement officers, backing the blue, modernizing crime reporting, defending life, and so much more. It has been a tremendous honor to serve as your Attorney General, and I am determined to keep fighting for the future of our great state and nation as U.S. Senator,” stated Sen. Moody.

Now, Moody will face something she has never had to face—A hostile press corps.

Sen. Moody will now have to walk the daily media gauntlet on Capitol Hill. Moody held very few and controlled press conferences as attorney general, but life on Capitol Hill differs greatly from life in Tallahassee.

President Donald Takes Office, Destroys Biden Legacy and Failed Policies

Elections have consequences. President Donald Trump’s inauguration acceptance speech stung Presidents Joe Biden and Barack Obama, as the 47th President savaged Biden administrations failed foreign and domestic policies..

All President Biden could do was sit there behind President Trump and take it on the chin.

President Donald Trump then signed a slew of Executive Orders aimed at undoing  the damage done by President Biden’s administration when it took over 4 years ago.

From “Draining the Swamp,” and “Unleashing American Energy,” to “Securing America's Borders,” President Trump made good on his campaign promises of restoring American Exceptionalism starting on Day 1 of his second term in office.

Here are just a few of those orders:

—President Trump signed an Executive Order reversing burdensome regulations that impeded Alaska’s ability to develop its vast natural resources.

—President Trump signed an Executive Order declaring a national emergency at the southern border to allow the government to gain operational control of the border, combat the cartels, and secure our nation.

—President Trump signed an Executive Order designating international cartels and transnational gangs Foreign Terrorist Organizations.

—President Trump signed an Executive Order establishing and implementing the President’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to oversee a substantial reduction in the size and scope of government.

—President Trump signed an Executive Order reinstating the name Mount McKinley and renaming the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America.

The Trump Administration: Where DEI Goes to Die

Representative Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) discussed the FBI's recent closure of its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) office ahead of President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration, saying that she does not "really have faith that the FBI is in the right direction" and that "there needs to be a top-down overhaul of the entire bureau" in a recent appearance on Fox Business's Kudlow.

Fox News confirmed that the FBI closed its DEI office sometime in December, prompting Trump to demand records from the office in a Truth Social post.

"We demand that the FBI preserve and retain all records, documents, and information on the now closing DEI Office—Never should have been opened and, if it was, should have closed long ago. Why is it that they're closing one day before the Inauguration of a new Administration? The reason is CORRUPTION!" said Trump.

Rep. Luna was equally cynical about the office's closure, saying, "It is good that they are trying to save face, but really, until we get Kash [Patel] confirmed, I do not really have faith that the FBI is in the right direction."

As a result, she added that "there needs to be a top-down overhaul of the entire bureau," referencing the infamous cases of the FBI going after pro-life activists for peaceful demonstrations against abortion under the Biden Administration.

Substitute host David Asman noted that the FBI has also been implicated in Operation Crossfire Hurricane, the lengthy investigation into Trump's supposed ties to Russia and the abuse of Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrants, and that the Department of Justice (DOJ) was not "twisting [the FBI's] arm" into carrying these acts out.

Rep. Luna agreed, suggesting that "the FBI seems to have been infiltrated and really had top-down leadership and bureaucracy that has really been pushing a leftist agenda. Make no mistake, the DOJ and I argue that the Biden Administration is actually pushing for there to be a weaponization of the FBI against President Trump and his allies."

However, the Florida Congresswoman noted that within the 119th Congress, there are more members "loyal to President Trump and the America First agenda," thus "we might not have some of the same issues we had previously."
