While the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has been making headlines, Representative Neal Dunn (R-FL) has gone a step further and introduced a bill granting "formal congressional authorization to President Trump to eliminate unlawful powers exercised by federal agencies."

Rep. Dunn named his bill the "10th Amendment Restoration Act," which, should it take effect, would establish a Constitutional Government Review Commission similar to DOGE in that it seeks to improve government transparency and efficiency.

Additionally, Rep. Dunn's proposed Commission would have the power to recommend restricting a government agency's powers, if not repealing the agency altogether, and also suggest how funds from shuttered agencies should be redistributed.

Such recommendations would receive expedited consideration on the House and Senate floor.

"President Trump was elected with a clear mandate to fight the ever-growing influence of the federal bureaucracy and hold federal agencies accountable for going beyond the scope of their power as outlined in the Constitution. To that end, the President-elect has organized the Department of Government Efficiency to review every federal agency to eliminate wasteful, duplicative, and unlawful practices. This bill will provide a clear process to rein in and, when necessary, eliminate federal agencies that abuse their power. The 10th Amendment Restoration Act will give the Trump Administration congressional authorization to conduct its activities to reform the federal government and ensure that all federal agencies are operating within the bounds of the Constitution. This legislation will allow the Trump Administration to begin evaluating government efficiency on the day he takes office and avoid any delay in implementing his reforms," said Rep. Dunn in his press release.

Reducing government overreach has become increasingly bipartisan as Inauguration Day approaches, with Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Representative Ro Khanna (D-CA) expressing support for eliminating government waste.

Representative Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) has also gained attention for being the first Democrat to join the DOGE Caucus, recently telling The Floridian that "I do not think that there is a single American in the country who thinks government is perfect, so Democrats should not fear the conversation. In fact, we should run into the conversation where there is agreement."
