US Central Command (CENTCOM) has released reports describing its ‘Defeat ISIS’ (D-ISIS) operation in Iraq and Syria.

D-ISIS included US-led operations against ISIS strongholds in the Hamrin mountains of Iraq and the Dayr az-Zawr region of Syria.

According to CENTCOM, ISIS forces garrisoned inside a cave attacked US and allied forces during the operations.

In response, the US ordered air strikes on ISIS members using F-16s, F-15s, and A-10s, ultimately eliminating the terrorists.

“U.S. Central Command remains committed to aggressively pursuing (ISIS) terrorists that threaten the region, our allies, and our citizens,” said Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla, CENTCOM Commander.

D-ISIS has been unfolding as CENTCOM and the broader US military deepens its relationship with Israel’s military.

CENTCOM Deputy Commander Vice Admiral Brad Cooper recently visited Israeli military installations to review capabilities and discuss joint operations such as mitigating the Houthi threat.

“The IDF will continue to deepen its relationship with the U.S. military out of a commitment to strengthening regional stability and coordination between the two militaries,” read an Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) statement.

Additionally, President Joe Biden’s administration announced it would be requesting Congress to approve an $8 Billion arms sale package to Israel.

The arms sale comes as Israel combats Iran-backed Hezbollah, Hamas, and Houthi terrorist forces.

President Biden’s proposal is expected to receive some resistance in Congress as Democrat leadership has previously criticized similar arms sales to Israel.

Last May, nearly 20 Democrat Senators voted in favor of rejecting the sale of tank cartridges and munitions to Israel.

The resolution was rejected by an overwhelming 79-18 vote, but the 18 votes in favor of the resolution, all from progressive Senators, raised eyebrows amongst conservatives.
