TALLAHASSEE—The Florida Legislature kicked off the 2025 Legislative Session, but the talk of the town was First Lady Casey DeSantis’s probable 2026 gubernatorial run and a running Black List of Republican lawmakers that the DeSantis’s embrace.

From rumors of reality, Mrs. DeSantis is expected to announce her run for Governor in the coming weeks, and while the DeSantis’s enjoy widespread name identification, not all Republicans want to see a third DeSantis term.

The one Republican lawmaker that is at the very top of the DeSantis ‘Black List’ is State Senator Randy Fine, who recinded his endorsement of Gov. DeSantis during the 2024 Republican Presidential Primary race.

According to Sen. Fine, who walked out of the House chamber moments before DeSantis appeared to deliver his address,  a “black list” exists that extends further than just the Governor’s Mansion.

Randy Fine

“Of course, there is a black list. It’s a blacklist that involves the Governor’s mansion, it involves events in your distric—there is absolutely a blacklist,” said Sen. Fine in an interview with The Floridian.

Fine contends that DeSantis claims that DeSantis did not invite him to a Hanukkah party at the Mansion in 2023.

“I am the only Jewish Republican,” said Fine. “Last year, he didn’t do one at all. I guess not running for office, you don’t have to do anything for Jews, but previous year he had a Hannukah party and he didn’t invite me.”

Fine concluded by opining about a potential Mrs. DeSantis gubernatorial run, saying that  Republican voters would not vote for a third DeSantis term in office.

“I don’t think there is a path. I don’t think Republican voters go for the nepotism thing, or the third term. We are the term limit party. I don’t think it sells,” he concluded.

TALLAHASSEE— Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has said that he believes First Lady Casey DeSantis would be a better governor than him if she ran for his job in 2026.

A formal 2026 gubernatorial announcement appears imminent. The Floridian has learned that Mrs. DeSantis could formally announce her candidacy as early as this week or next.

Just last week in Miami, Mrs. DeSantis was asked if she would run, and she promptly answered with a very scripted,” To quote the late great Yogi Berra: ‘When you come to a fork in the road, take it."

How do we know it was scripted?

Mrs. DeSantis is seen glancing down at her note card a moment before reciting her Yogi Berra quote.

Obviously, DeSantis’s gubernatorial candidacy would be seen as a direct bird-flipping gesture to President Donald Trump and  Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.

The bad blood between the DeSantis's and Wiles has been well-documented.

Why Would DeSantis Announce Now?

Why not?

Remember, lobbyists in Tallahassee cannot donate to state lawmakers once the 2025 legislative session begins, but they sure can donate to others running for elected office, like Mrs. DeSantis.

And while there are some reluctant lobbyists, most need to see their bills move along in both chambers, and for Gov. DeSantis to sign them into law.

More importantly, lobbyist need to see their legislative measures and initiative make it all they way through the appropriation process and on to DeSantis’s desk, where they still could face the governor’s veto pen.

Gov. Ron DeSantis and Casey DeSantis

We already know DeSantis has been calling on donors in hopes to ice them from donating to Trump-endorsed Rep. Byron Donalds. Just this week, several Tallahassee-based lobbyists told The Floridian that they were asked to support Casey DeSantis.

During the 2023 legislative cycle, it appeared as if DeSantis put off signing the budget longer than usual because he wanted to shake every last dollar from the fruitful Tallahassee lobby corps.

Shortly after the budget was signed that year, DeSantis announced his ill-fated presidential run against now President Donald Trump.

Trump Slate vs. DeSantis Slate

One of the worst kept secrets in Florida Politics is that Team DeSantis could form a election slate to help shore up Republican support behind his wife in hopes that it will be enough to counter the support a Team MAGA slate comprised of Rep. Donalds, Senator Joe Gruters, and possibly Senate President Albritton, Speaker Daniel Perez,  and former Speaker of the House Chris Sprowls.

Governor— Byron Donalds vs. Casey DeSantis

Attorney General— Chris Sprowls vs. AG James Uthmeier

AG Commissioner—Sen. Ben Albritton/ AG Wilton Simpson vs ???

CFO— Sen. Joe Gruters vs Sen. Blaise “Donuts” Ingoglia

DeSantis’s anonymous online “influencer” team has been busy trying to paint Donalds as some criminal  for a past marijuana possession and for missing  votes in the House of Representatives.

While hitting Donalds on his past missteps and voting records is fair game, expect MAGA world influencer like Laura Loomer and Roger Stone to quickly paint Mrs. DeSantis as a puppet for her husband’s aspiration to control the Executive Office of the Governor (EOG) for third term.

Why?

Again, why not?

DeSantis has presidential aspirations. We don’t think he really cares if current Vice President JD Vance runs for President in 2028.

DeSantis has proven he can raise big campaign bucks as a sitting governor, but can he do it as the former governor of Florida?

Maybe, but if he can help elect his wife Casey governor, she will then control the biggest bully pulpit in the state and help her husband raise cash for his potential 2028 or 2032 presidential campaigns.

Rep. Byron Donalds
Rep. Byron Donalds

A Cute Way of Staying in Power

The biggest obstacle the DeSantis’ will face is shaking off the fact that Casey winning the governership in 2026 will be seen as Gov. DeSantis’ third term in office.

Technically, if Casey wins, it would be her first term in office and not Ron’s third. Technically.

But we all know that’s a bunch of bullshit, because DeSantis will most-likely be rolling up his sleeves to continue pushing his political agenda and growing his national footprint.

Do you actually think that DeSantis would be staying home all day playing golf and picking up the kids from school, or that he will continue his all-involvement in state government?

Here is something to think about this week?

Could DeSantis appoint Casey to be his Lt. Governor now that former Lt. Gov. Jeanette Nuñez has left the EOG?

Could Mrs. DeSantis tap her husband to be her Lt. governor running mate?

Both of these notions seem a bit far-fetched, but are they?

Here is another thought to process?

Could Rep. Donalds run for governor and tap Speaker Perez, Rep. Weinberger,
 to be his Lt. Governor?

One thing is for certain, both Donalds and DeSantis are viable gubernatorial candidates, but will the bad blood between Gov. DeSantis and President Trump reach new heights if and when Casey jumps into the race against Donalds?

To quote former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, “You Betcha!”

In a recent exposĂ©, the Coral Gables War Memorial Youth Center Association (WMYCA), a nonprofit organization led by Kirk Menendez, has come under scrutiny. The WMYCA, originally founded in 1944, has allegedly been plagued by disturbing financial mismanagement under Menendez’s leadership.

Per the publication, and despite being a respected community institution, the nonprofit lost its 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status in May 2020, Menendez continued to present it as a charitable organization.

Internal Revenue Service (IRS) records reveal the WMYCA’s absence from the 501(c)(3) registry, indicating that it was no longer qualified for tax-exempt status after failing to meet filing requirements.

Further complicating matters, the WMYCA’s substantial assets, estimated at over $113,000 in 2016, is alleged to disappear without explanation. This raises questions about the organization's financial oversight, especially considering that Menendez installed his wife and daughter as financial officers after the departure of the previous treasurer.

The alleged lack of transparency surrounding these changes could be seen as deeply troubling, suggesting a disregard for both ethical practices and community trust.

Additionally, according to the report, Menendez appears to have personal financial troubles, including multiple mortgages on his properties and a pending lawsuit for unpaid debt, have fueled concerns about potential conflicts of interest.

These issues have raised the question of whether Menendez’s potential financial desperation influenced his actions as president of the WMYCA, potentially leading to the mishandling of its funds and the deterioration of its nonprofit status.

The timing of these issues aligns with Menendez’s transition from government service to leadership at the WMYCA. His previous tenure in Miami City government, which ended in 2016, was marked by similar allegations of mismanagement. The recent revelations about the WMYCA raise broader concerns about Menendez’s competence and his ability to handle public office responsibly.

In light of these findings, the community deserves answers. The former nonprofit leader, now a candidate for mayor, has yet to publicly address the situation.

We have reached out to Commissioner Menendez several times for a statement regarding the WMYCA's financial records and his stewardship of the organization via email and telephone, but have not received a response back.

The House Armed Services Committee (HASC) is quietly planning an official congressional trip (CODEL) to the U.S. Naval base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba as more illegal aliens are being detained and sent there from the mainland.

The Floridian has learned that during a recent 4-day trip to Fort Buchanan on the island of Puerto Rico, members of the HASC were briefed on the current military status in the region and how the Army garrison situated in the City of San Juan, could become the “Tip of the Spear” for the Department of Defense in the growingly hostile Western Hemisphere.

In addition, staffers were in a preliminary discussion about putting together the official trip to GITMO to address the ongoing and aforementioned deportation of illegal aliens that the Trump administration is conducting across the country.

The majority of deported Venezuelan illegal aliens have made their way to GITMO.

Florida Congress Carlos Gimenez (R), sits on the HASC and who, at 7 years old, fled Cuba with his family back in 1960, spoke to The Floridian about possibly returning to the island after so many years.

“I haven’t been back since November of 1960, that’s when I left Cuba. I would think that it could get emotional for me going back to Cuba. I was born there. I haven’t been back there in 60 years,” said Rep. Gimenez.

Rep. Gimenez added that under the Trump administration, “a refocusing of America on the Western Hemisphere” needed to be established, saying that U.S. neighbors and partners have been ignored.

“We need to establish a refocusing of America on the Western Hemisphere,” he said. “I thing for too long, we have been ignoring our neighbors in our own hemisphere, and Russia and China have taken advantage of that and filled that vacuum.”

Shortly after taking office, President Donald Trump asserted that criminal illegal aliens would be sent to Guantanamo Bay.

“We have 30,000 beds in Guantanamo to detain the worst criminal illegal aliens threatening the American people. Some of them so bad, we don’t even trust their countries to hold them because we don’t want them coming back, so we are going to send them out to Guantanamo,” said President Trump during a White House press conference.

A date has not been set for the congressional visit to Guantanamo Bay.

Byron Donalds-I arrived in the Sunshine State at 17 years old on a Greyhound bus, with a trunk full of clothes and a dream.

Now is the time to keep the best state in the country as the best state in the country.

Tonight, I am proud to announce my candidacy to be the next governor of Florida.

Erika Donalds-My husband @ByronDonalds

is the American dream personified.

Faith in God, grit, kindness, character & a heart of service brought him to this moment in history.

He was instrumental in Trump’s victory. Now he will faithfully steward Florida’s future.

I couldn’t be more proud.

Sen. Jason Pizzo-Not sure where the time went, but I’m sure of this - tonight, I said goodbye to a tough, brave and loyal young man, who will give the @USMC

his very best. He’s one of the few, and I’m one of the very proud. I love you, Jack.

WASHINGTON—With Democrats up in arms over the aggressive and transparent nature of Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in support of President Donald Trump’s “America First Agenda” initiative, Republican lawmakers like Senator Ashley Moody and Rep. Byron Donalds continue to praise the efforts of a complete government agency overhaul.

Shortly after votes on Monday, The Floridian spoke to Senator Moody about how effective DOGE has been and her overall thoughts about President Trump’s push to “Drain the Swamp.”

“As Attorney General, a lot of what I did was push back on some overreaching policy decisions, spending decisions of some of these agencies, and I think folks have realized that not only have these agencies gotten so large, they have overstepped time and time again,” said Sen. Moody.

Sen. Moody tried to give past and current members of Congress the benefit of the doubt about what was going on within government agencies, but the newly-minted junior senator from Florida reverted back to praising the Trump administration for assembly the Musk-ran DOGE that has been looking under every stone within the federal government to uncover wasteful spending.

“With Congress, I don’t think a lot of people understood what some of that spending was, and so I give a lot of credit to assembly a team that’s coming in and going item by item by item to utterly curtail the size of government, but be very focused on what’s been spent and whether that is something Congress originally intended and whether the people support that,” Moody concluded.

Rep. Byron Donalds

But while Moody and other Republicans try not to nuke their Democratic colleagues for the part they may have played in the overblown size of the federal government, Rep. Donalds wasn’t so kind.

“Of course the Democrats are complaining because all their pet projects are burrowed into the bureaucracy, and now someone is going in and examining everything, which this town has never done, and what has been needed in this town, so, of course, they are going to be upset,” said Rep. Donalds.

Donalds went on to point out that congressional Democrats were to blame for “writing law for decades” through the Executive Branch in order to support their “pet projects.”

“They are the ones that gave so much discretion to the Executive Branch_that’s how they’ve been writing law for decades now so that they can squeeze all their pet projects without congress really having to do that heavy lifting,” he added.  â€œAnd now you have an Executive who is using that discretion to examine the Executive Branch.”

Musk recently sent out an email asking government employees to respond with what they had accomplished the previous week or face possible termination.

Maxwell Alejandro Frost-U.S. Attorneys are not the President’s lawyers. They are the United States’ lawyers. You didn’t pledge an oath to a President, you pledged it to the constitution. This statement alone is reason enough for you to resign.

Blaise Ingoglia-Today, I filed a proposed constitutional amendment to raise our homestead exemption to $75K that will also be indexed every year for inflation. This is the largest proposed property tax cut ever at $2.6B.

For the record, I totally agree with @GovRonDeSantis

in abolishing homesteaded property taxes altogether but that may take years to get done.

In the meantime, let’s get some property tax relief for Floridians now!

WASHINGTON—Hours after Florida Governor Ron DeSantis appeared to dismiss President Donald Trump’s 2026 gubernatorial endorsement of Rep. Byron Donalds, the MAGA favorite congressman spoke to The Floridian and shrugged off Gov. DeSantis’s dig against him.

When asked about Gov. DeSantis’s assertion that Rep. Donalds wasn’t doing much during his time in the House of Representatives and that he has appeared to be focused on campaigning in other states rather than pushing President Donald Trump’s “America First Agenda,” Donalds sarcastically stated, “Ok.”

Donalds didn’t want to directly engage DeSantis, instead, he stated that he was focused on getting “the President’s agenda done,” adding that Trump’s endorsement “means a lot,” and that  he would figure out his future plans “pretty shortly.”

“I'm happy that I have the President's support. It means a lot, so we're just going to keep doing our job and moving forward,” said Donalds.

When asked what his thoughts were about DeSantis saying that First Lady Casey DeSantis would govern better than him, Donalds shrugged off the question.

“I can't even speculate on it because we don't know what's happening— nobody's in a race, but I just know in terms of where things are, I like where I am,” he added.

What DeSantis Said About Donalds

"You got a guy like Byron, he just hasn't been a part of any of the victories that we've had here over the left over these last years. He's just not been a part of it," DeSantis said before talking up his wife.

"He’s been in other states campaigning, and that's fine, but okay, well then deliver results up there!" He continued, claiming Congress hasn't "done very much" to implement Trump's agenda.

How We Got Here.

When The Floridian first reported that DeSantis was traveling to Washington, where he planned on pitching First Lady Casey DeSantis potential candidacy and actively trying to prevent donors from supporting Donalds, Trump endorsed Donalds a few hours after was made aware of the story.

Laura Loomer, who sources say made the White House aware of the article and who was one of the first to suggest that Mrs. DeSantis would be running for governor in 2026, recently spoke to Donalds at CPAC about that very story.

DeSantis could be probing to see how Donalds will respond, and if he has what it takes to stand up to opposition.  If DeSantis and his online influencers continue to throw jabs at Donalds, Donalds will have to respond.

If he doesn't Team DeSantis may smell blood in the Gulf of America.

Florida Rep. Cory Mills has categorically denied he did anything wrong after Washington Metropolitan Police officers responded to his residence this past week, where they were asked to “resolve a private matter." MDP confirmed that they were called to the Mills residence to look into a possible case of “assault” and that they were investigating the matter.

The father of two, former Army combat veteran and recently appointed Chairman of the Subcommittee on Oversight and Intelligence, denied any assault allegation in a statement furnished to Fox News by a legislative aide.

Rep. Mills reiterated his denial to The Floridian in a phone conversation, where he dismissed any insinuations that he harmed Sarah Raviani, the woman at the center of the allegation.”

In reaching out to Ms. Raviani, the alleged victim, Raviani provided a written statement to The Floridian explaining that while she did reach out to police, she was intoxicated and “severely jet-lagged” and “sleep-deprived.”

Raviani also stated that she did not accuse Mills of assaulting her in any way, adding that media outlets and reporters “misrepresented” the incident and took her out of context.

Here is Raviani’s statement:

Wednesday, I reached out to law enforcement to address a personal matter. Several factors influenced my decision to involve the authorities. I had just returned from a 14-hour flight, severely jet-lagged and sleep-deprived. Additionally, I had been drinking during my vacation and had a drink in front of me when the officers arrived, which contributed to my emotional state. Upon their arrival, they noticed some bruising and marks on my arms, which I explained were the result of medical conditions like eczema and activities from my recent trip to Dubai. While the personal matter in question was emotionally charged, there was no physical altercation. Regrettably, the situation has since been misrepresented by reporters and led to relentless harassment from various sources. Words have been taken out of context, and my privacy is being disregarded. This is a deeply personal matter that is being unfairly exploited for political purposes or other motives.

Mills has recently stated that he is considering a run for the U.S. Senate in 2026.

“This week, law enforcement resolved a private matter at Congressman Mills’s residence. Congressman Mills vehemently denies any wrongdoing whatsoever, and is confident any investigation will clear this matter quickly," stated Mills’ spokesperson.

President Donald Trump Endorses Byron Donalds Over Simpson, DeSantis, When he Runs for Governor

Of course, we are going to take the credit for pressing President Trump's decision to endorse Rep. Byron Donalds over First Lady Casey DeSantis where he (he will) decide to run for governor in 2016. Hours after we broke the story that Gov. DeSantis was going to press the president to support Mrs. DeSantis and was actively telling donors not to donate to Rep. Donalds, the 47th President of the United States dropped the political Mother Of All Bombs (MOAB) endorsements.

This is a game-changing endorsement.

Who is going to run against Donalds when he officially announces sometime this summer?

Only a fool will run against arguably the most popular and powerful sitting U.S. President in American history.

The Floridian has learned that shortly after the White House read the story, things quickly went into motion.

Sources say Laura Loomer brought DeSantis’s plot to the attention of President Trump and his senior advisors at the White House, which promoted President Trump to release his endorsement of Byron Donalds less than 2 hours before POTUS was set to speak to the Republican Governor’s Association, which has scheduled meeting in Washington, D.C.

Gov. Ron and Casey DeSantis traveled to Washington for the dinner, hoping to corner Trump and get him to refrain from endorsing Donalds over Mrs. DeSantis.

"I am hearing that Highly Respected Congressman Byron Donalds is considering running for Governor of Florida, a State that I love, and WON BIG in 2016, 2020, and 2024. I know Byron well, have seen him tested at the highest and most difficult levels, and he is a TOTAL WINNER! Byron has a great wife, Erika, and three beautiful sons. They are very proud of him! As Governor, Byron would have a BIG Voice, and would work closely with me to advance our America First Agenda. He will fight tirelessly to Secure our Border, Stop Migrant Crime, Strengthen our Military, Protect our Vets, Restore our Economic Power, Advance American Energy DOMINANCE, and Defend our always-under-siege Second Amendment. Byron Donalds would be a truly Great and Powerful Governor for Florida and, should he decide to run, will have my Complete and Total Endorsement. RUN, BYRON, RUN!"— President Donald Trump

Stick a fork in the 2026 Republican gubernatorial election in Florida. It's over.

Rep. Donalds is all but assured to win the nomination for governor when he announces, and has moved up his announcement date.

The announcement is imminent.

The bigger losers are AG Commissioner Wilton Simpson and his questionable communications apparatus that have been eyeing the governor's Mansion and lately have been in overdrive to paint him as the immigration law enforcement czar.

Ron DeSantis-Today, we kicked off Florida’s preparations for America’s semiquincentennial by unveiling a statue of George Washington generously loaned to us from the Mount Vernon Estate.

Ahead of the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding next year, we are also commissioning statues of our founding fathers to be placed in the Florida counties that bear their namesakes. While this Mount Vernon statue is displayed at the Capitol, our own commissioned statue of George Washington will be destined for Washington County.

The same goes for:

Franklin County, named for Benjamin Franklin;

Hamilton County, named for Alexander Hamilton;

Jefferson County, named for Thomas Jefferson;

Madison County, named for the Father of our Constitution, James Madison; and,

Monroe County, named for James Monroe.

While other places are tearing statues down, Florida is putting them up and honoring our nation’s history.

Byron Donalds-President Trump is Making America Great Again.

I'm committed to working with him to Keep Florida Great.

Announcement coming soon!

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who is a big supporter of term limits, doesn’t appear to be willing to give up the power he wields as “America’s Governor,” appears to be be traveling to Washington, D.C. to meet with President Donald Trump in support of First Lady Casey DeSantis running to replace him in the 2026 Republican gubernatorial primary election.

The Floridian has learned from several influential lobbyists/donors who support Gov. DeSantis, that DeSantis will be flying to Washington in the coming days to meet with President Trump in hopes to prevent him from endorsing Rep. Byron Donalds, the odds-on favorite of the MAGA movement.

Donalds has already received the support of top Trump-supporting lawmakers like Reps. Anna Paulina Luna and Cory Mills.

The aforementioned lobbyists, who asked that we protect their identities for this article, said that Governor DeSantis has been calling top donors and urging them not to donate to Rep. Donalds instead asking them to hold their powder in support of Mrs. DeSantis.

This could be a tactic to buy some DeSantis time to make a final decision on whether or not to allow his wife to run to replace him.

The beef between Gov. DeSantis and President Trump, that was created when DeSantis made the ill-advised move to challenge Trump in the 2024 Republican presidential primary election, appears to have shelved, but is it?

Earlier this year, Trump appeared to show his support for Donalds after he posted a meme of a public opinion poll showing the popular Florida congressman leading the pack of potential Republican gubernatorial candidates.

The poll conducted by Victory Insights posted on January 29th to X (formerly Twitter) suggested Rep. Donalds would win a Republican primary against Lieutenant Governor Jeanette Nunez (R-FL), Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson, and Miami Mayor Francis Suarez with 31% of the vote, while Nunez, the closest competitor, only held 4% of the hypothetical vote.

The only two realistic gubernatorial candidates would be Donalds and current Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson, considering that Suarez has stated that he wasn’t interested in the job.

Nuñez just took the job as interm President of Florida International University (FIU) and would probably wouldn’t be giving up the $1 million a year job close to home.

Remember, like he did with just about every single member of Florida’s congressional caucus, DeSantis took issue with Donalds after Donalds endorsed Trump for president over DeSantis in 2023.

During his term in the House of Representatives, DeSantis always held the belief that lawmakers need to be term limited.

DeSantis recently underscored his belief of term limits when former President Joe Biden asserted that he supported term limits for Supreme Court Justices.

"Why aren't we doing term limits for members of Congress? That's what would make the biggest difference!" DeSantis said during his Tampa press conference. "[Democrats] don't like the court now because they're on the wrong side of rulings...If they're willing to support term limits for members of Congress, that would be a trade that I would make."

If Mrs. DeSantis runs and wins, for all intents and purposes, it would serve as her husband’s third term in office.

Technically, a Casey DeSantis governorship would not be a Ron DeSantis third term, but it would be, and many state lawmakers don't appear to be keen on the idea that another DeSantis will be calling the shots in Tallahassee.

Mrs. DeSantis already has her  own office within the Governor’s executive office, and has sat in on many meetings regarding governance, so it can be said that she is well-acclamated with the role and she could easily follow in her husband's footsteps.

But with that said, is she qualified to follow in the governor’s footsteps?

Mrs. DeSantis does have her own pair of cowboy boots, so that box is checked, but one member of Congress, who also doesn’t want his or her name share in this article, doesn’t believe she is qualified to be governor of Florida.

“She is no less qualified to be governor than Kamala Harris was to be president,” said the congressional source. “What has she done to make her qualified?”

The Republican Governor’s Association (RGA) will holding a meeting this week in Washington.
