President Donald Trump recently designated sundry drug cartels operating in Mexico as Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTO).

Designating the cartels as FTOs was one of President Trump’s campaign promises, and it was something conservatives had long urged former President Joe Biden to do to no avail.

The cartels designated are Tren de Aragua, Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13), Cártel de Sinaloa, Cártel de Jalisco Nueva Generación, Cártel del Noreste (formerly Los Zetas), La Nueva Familia Michoacana, Cártel de Golfo (Gulf Cartel), and Cárteles Unidos.

The FTO designation expands financial sanctions against the cartels and authorizes the use of military force against them.

Elon Musk took to social media to speak about the designation, alleging it could result in “drone strikes” against the cartels.

The use of military force against cartels operating in Mexico is unlikely, however, as Mexico President Claudia Sheinbaum has opposed the idea and criticized it as a violation of Mexico’s sovereignty.

"The Mexican people will not accept under any circumstances interventions, interference or any other act from abroad that could be harmful to the integrity, independence and sovereignty of the nation," said President Sheinbaum.

Sheinbaum also claimed she would study the possibility of erecting constitutional reforms to further protect Mexico’s sovereignty.

State Department Secretary Marco Rubio explained the FTO designation is intended to “protect our nation, the American people, and our hemisphere.”

“That means stopping the campaigns of violence and terror by these vicious groups both in the United States and internationally,” said Secretary Rubio. “These designations provide law enforcement additional tools to stop these groups.”

Tren de Aragua, MS-13, and the Sinaloa cartels are perhaps the most infamous groups, especially given their increased activity in the US during President Biden’s administration.

Biden took certain actions against the cartels, such as designating Tren de Aragua as a transnational criminal organization (TCO).

Tren de Aragua is Venezuela’s largest gang with an estimated 5,000 members and has recently been linked to numerous criminal investigations in the US and Mexico.

Jay Collins-President Trump is spot on with this one! The state of Florida has already taken steps to keep Communist China away from our farmland — and it’s time the rest of the nation follows suit.

Rep. Anna V. Eskamani, PhD -Orlando is my home. I’ve spent my life working for you and fighting for us. And now, I’m excited to take that fight to Orlando City Hall.

Mario Díaz-Balart-The designation of Mexican drug cartels and other dangerous gangs, such as the Tren de Aragua and MS-13 as Foreign Terrorist Organizations, is important to our national security.

This is crucial toward dismantling their presence in the United States, and protecting our national security.

WASHINGTON—Representative Mike Haridopolos (R-FL) said he is "absolutely okay" with President Trump's designation of the Mexican drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations and discussed other border policies in a recent interview with The Floridian, saying "that we need to send a clear message that we respect our own sovereignty."

President Trump has expressed support for the use of military force to combat the cartels since April 2023, telling Breitbart News, "This is an invasion of our country - this isn't just people walking over."

Rep. Haridopolos shared the same sentiment in his comments to us, saying the cartels "have declared war on the United States in so many ways," referencing their trafficking of the notoriously deadly fentanyl into the country along with their human trafficking atrocities and facilitating the entry of other violent criminals such as MS-13 from El Salvador and Tren de Aragua from Venezuela.

"It is a de facto invasion, and clearly, the Biden Administration just turned a blind eye to it," Rep. Haridopolos continued.

As a result, the Florida Congressman said that military force to fight the cartels is a demonstration of how "we need to send a clear message that we respect our own sovereignty [and] we have a border. Without a border, we have no sovereignty. And clearly, these folks have taken advantage of the system."

Even outside of the criminal element taking advantage of lax border policies, Haridopolos also pointed to the economic strain of supporting mass illegal immigration, referencing how uncompensated healthcare for illegal aliens has cost the state of Florida over $500 million, according to the Foreign Desk and Daily Signal.

"That is one of the reasons why we are seeing so much, not only inflation in general, but at medical facilities, because eventually someone has to pay for that, and that means if you have private insurance, you are going to be paying more and more because you have to cover what the government has failed," Haridopolos concluded.

Despite his massive popularity, El Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele has attained controversy for his hardline tactics in defeating the numerous gangs in his country. A group called "the Committee in Solidarity with the People of El Salvador" (CISPES) recently accused Representative Matt Gaetz's (R-FL) El Salvador Caucus of "whitewashing human rights abuses," which the Florida Congressman rebuked in a recent statement.

Rep. Gaetz, a friend and ally of Bukele, founded the El Salvador Caucus at the beginning of July with Texas Democrat Representative Vicente Gonzalez (D-TX) to "promote a better understanding of issues related to the United States' relationship with El Salvador, [American] interests, and the interests of the United States."

However, CISPES suggested, per a report by human rights organization Cristosal, that the Bukele regime has engaged in "arbitrary detentions, torture, and deaths that raise serious concerns about the potential commission of crimes against humanity by the Salvadoran State."

Additionally, migration from the Central American country has been a product of "people leaving the country requesting asylum and refuge, claiming that they are fleeing state violence carried out by police and military officers."

Rep. Gaetz, however, quickly dismissed these claims in his statement, calling them "baseless" and accusing them of ignoring just how bad the gangs such as MS-13 indeed were.

"CISPES has baselessly accused the Congressional El Salvador Caucus of 'whitewashing human rights abuses.' While the caucus has drawn attention to the many human rights abuses by gangs such as MS-13 and the successful operations by the government of El Salvador to restore law and order, CISPES has ignored the anarcho-tyranny of the gangs. Instead, they have attacked the lawful and necessary security measures installed by the El Salvadoran government and President Bukele.

Where was CISPES when dozens of innocent people were being murdered per day in El Salvador? Where was CISPES when El Salvador was the most dangerous country in the world? If CISPES truly stood in 'solidarity' with the people of El Salvador, they would support President Bukele's state of exception, which the people of El Salvador support by over 90%," the Florida Congressman fired back.

In a hearing titled "Voices for the Victims," Representative Laurel Lee (R-FL) held nothing back in a fiery condemnation of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and his handling of the ongoing border crisis. She said Mayorkas "deliberately subverted the duly enacted laws of the United States of America," and "has defied inquiries from the United States Congress."

Rep. Lee did not stop there, excoriating House Democrats for calling the hearing "a political sham, calling it a political stunt, calling it theater. And they suggest that what we actually need to do is pass more laws."

She pointed out that multiple crimes illegal immigrants have committed, ranging from drug and human trafficking to rape and murder, are already illegal.

"We do not need more laws. We need a president of the United States and a Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security who enforce the laws of this country. But what do we have instead? An administration that has deliberately subverted the duly enacted laws of the United States of America, that have deliberately defied the orders of courts in the United States of America who have ordered and directed that they desist these unlawful policies," Rep. Lee continued.

The Florida Congresswoman did not let up, excoriating Mayorkas for never admitting in his 27 appearances before Congress that "We have lost operational control of our border, that we have ceded control of our border to the Mexican drug cartels or acknowledge the scope, scale, and crisis that our communities all across America face as a direct consequence of these lawless policies."

Lee then allowed for testimony from Tammy Nobles, mother of Kayla Nobles, a 20-year-old autistic woman raped and murdered by an MS-13 member who crossed the border in 2022. Like Lee, Mrs. Nobles did not mince words, accusing the Biden Administration of failing her daughter by not properly vetting the killer "and did not make that one phone call, one phone call [repeated for emphasis] that could have saved my baby's life."

"I know Americans commit crimes on other Americans, but why do we have to take other countries' trash? Why do we need them?" Mrs. Nobles concluded.

Sierra Vista, Arizona—During a roundtable meeting at the U.S. southern border to highlight his efforts to help other states combat the border crisis, and announced he would be partnering up with other border states, DeSantis made pro-illegal immigration heads explode by correctly referring to illegal immigrants as “illegal aliens.

Gov. DeSantis was highlighting the recent encounters with illegal aliens that his recently-deployed law enforcement and national guard task force encountered, informing that the team had been able to seize guns, cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and even assisted in the apprehension of a wanted MS-13 gang member

“One of the illegal aliens that our highway patrol encountered was an MS-13 gang member,” said Gov.DeSantis.

The term illegal alien has been widely used and accepted by the US Supreme Court, the federal government, and Republican and Democratic elected officials for decades. Former President Bill Clinton (D) used the term “illegal aliens” during his 1995 State of the Union address.

In April 2021, the Biden Administration tried to put an end to the use of the term, as well as "illegal immigrants,"  by directing the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to “avoid using terminology that might be perceived by others as offensive or otherwise disparaging,” or dehumanizing.

"In an effort to rebuild public trust and reshape our agency’s image, ICE will make efforts to avoid using terminology that might be perceived by others as offensive or otherwise disparaging," ICE Acting Director Tae Johnson said in an email to employees announcing the change.

Within several weeks of having been deployed to Texas to help police the U.S. southern border with Mexico, Gov. Ron DeSantis has announced that law enforcement teams on the ground have already assisted in 190 arrests of criminal illegal aliens, including the detention of illegal aliens wanted for capital murder.

In addition, Florida law enforcement personnel, which consists of elements from

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), Florida National Guard (FLNG), Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), and the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) - Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), also assisted Texas officials in arresting an MS-13 gang member that was on the U.S. Terror Watch List.

In all, since first arriving in the border region, Florida law enforcement and military elements have “made contact” with an estimated 5,800 illegal aliens.

Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is currently running for President, has vowed to assist Texas and other border states in mitigating the influx of illegal immigration and the criminality that follows it.

“The impacts of Biden’s Border Crisis are felt by communities across the nation, and the federal government’s abdication of duty undermines the sovereignty of our country and the rule of law,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “At my direction, state agencies including law enforcement and the Florida National Guard are being deployed to Texas, with assets including personnel, boats and planes. While Biden ignores the crisis he created, Florida stands ready to help Texas respond to this crisis."

The DeSantis Video Leak

The newly-released leaked video clippings of Gov. Ron DeSantis debate-prepping during the 2018 midterm gubernatorial cycle is nothing less than shameful, and all that is wrong with American politics.

But then again, it's politics, and all bets are off when you are an American candidate for public office.

Surely, everyone on DeSantis’s campaign knows who took that video and probably leaked it.

There are only so many people that could know, or have access to all the internal campaign video footage.

The leak comes just weeks, or possibly days before DeSantis is expected to announce his 2024 Republican presidential run against former President Donald Trump.

Of course, the leak has spurred on “OnlyTrumpers” or Trump loyalists to call DeSantis a disingenuous “career politician who will say anything to get elected.”

In the video, DeSantis does express concern about how to answer a question or questions so that his answer does not upset Trump’s “voters.”

“I have to frame it in a way that it's not going to piss off all of his voters,” said DeSantis.

On the other hand, DeSantis supporters are saying that the video depicts their candidate having the necessary fire in the belly to take on Trump, the media, and eventually the Democratic presidential nominee, whomever that could be if it’s not President Joe Biden. READ MORE

NO MAS! NO MAS!

Both Republican and Democratic lawmakers have expressed their distaste for the practice of human trafficking that has been occurring as a result of the border crisis with Mexico, particularly the trafficking of migrant children.

While Democrats have paid the issue lip service, and the Biden administration has dismissed the border crisis as being over, Republican lawmakers continue to file legislation to push back against illegal immigration as well as human trafficking and continue pressing the Biden administration to push back harder against the drug cartels controlling the flow of illegal immigration and the criminality that comes with it. READ MORE

Rep. María Elvira Salazar-I just sent a letter to @SecMayorkas demanding the Biden Administration supply Guatemala with the resources they need to stop the expected surge of migrants when Title 42 expires next week! @POTUS, it's time to end this crisis NOW!

Representative Fentrice Driskell-I am pleased to announce that House Bill 1481 has passed the Florida House unanimously! This bill will require DOH to establish & maintain a sickle cell registry. I look forward to seeing all the good that will come from this legislation

AG Ashley Moody-Fentanyl deaths continue to skyrocket—up more than 300% in just 5 years—yet @JoeBiden continues to allow the Mexican drug cartels to traffic this poison across our border in record amounts. Sadly, this crisis will get worse once Title 42 expires in 1 week.

Byron Donalds- I'm a hard NO on a temporary debt ceiling increase. House Republicans did our job. Now it's time for Democrats to stop punting and get serious about a path forward. They should support the House GOP package if they cannot devise a serious plan.

Biden's Housing Socialism 101

Republican lawmakers are expressing their disdain and opposition towards the announcement by the Biden administration that those individual homeowners with lower credit scores will be rewarded while penalizing those with higher FICO scores. Lawmakers say this is a terrible housing proposal.

“The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), which oversees the majority of mortgages in the United States announced that those with a FICO credit score below 620 will receive a discount on their fees, while simultaneously granting a monthly fee on those with a credit score higher than 740.” (Source-The Floridian)

Other lawmakers like Reps. Brian Mast and Greg Steube went as far as to call the move nothing less than an economy-damaging “major step towards socialism.”

FIU Continues Excelling

Florida International University (FIU) will hold another graduation ceremony today, where students who achieved the daunting task of completing a Master’s degree will be afforded the opportunity to walk the stage and receive their diploma.

A record number of graduates will be receiving diplomas.

On a personal note, Mrs. Manjarres will be walking the stage today in South Miami. It is fair to say that her diploma aged Publisher Javier Manjarres by at least 20 years. At least! Ahahahaha

Shevrin “Shev” Jones-I wrote this book in the 5th grade for a writing contest. I made mention of it in my debate on the @FLSenate

floor today. I look forward to the day where we all can grab our bag of good will and spread it. Call me crazy, but I’m crazy enough to believe that it’s possible.

Rep. Cory Mills -I’m proud to introduce the Reinforcing Sanctions on Iranian Terrorists Act to codify sanctions against Mahan Air, an Iranian airline that has been proven to be integral to the IRGC’s terrorist activities.

I will work to ensure authoritarian regimes do not go unchecked.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz-Sadly, this is just the latest in a long line of repulsive policies & statements that Florida Republicans aimed at the LGBTQ+ community. The hate being spread by FLA extremists is shameful.

Christopher F. Rufo -BREAKING: The Florida State Senate has passed a bill that would abolish the DEI bureaucracies at all public universities statewide.

We are one step closer to reversing the forces of ideological capture and restoring the principle of colorblind equality to our institutions.

DeSantis's Big Legislative Wins and His One Big Loss

The 2023 Florida legislative session is about to wrap up and Gov. Ron DeSantis has come out on top like no other governor has ever done before.

Gov. DeSantis managed to get his entire legislative and political agenda pushed through, paving the way for his expected 2024 presidential run.

But DeSantis chalking up legislative win after legislative win, he also failed on a couple of instances.

Both DeSantis’s “Blogger bill” and is media defamation measure, which would have made it easier to sue journalists, were utter failures.

DeSantis himself sunk the blogger bill on Day 1 of the legislative session, and weeks later, his defamation bill was eviscerated after just about every media outlet in the state came down against the measure.

It was a big loss for DeSantis, arguably his biggest defeat of his governorship to date.

Yes, DeSantis failed to pass open-carry gun legislation, and was able to get Constitutional Carry passed instead, but his defamation bill against media outlets was dead on arrival and there was nothing he could have done to revive it.

Legislators did in the end pass his “Resign to Run” bill, which will allow him to run for President and still be able to hold the Governor’s Mansion.

What's Next for Venezuela?

Can future political talks encouraged by the U.S. bring on the necessary political and economic change Venezuela needs to survive? U.S. lawmakers are split on what to do with Venezuela. READ MORE

Shevrin “Shev” Jones-Today we debated on an amendment that would repeal a portion of the resign to run law, making it possible for Gov DeSantis to be able to run for President and still maintain his seat as Governor, if he loses.

If the Governor or anyone in the legislature is privileged enough to run for President, and he/she believe that they could win, then they should do it! But don’t hold us hostage while you fulfill your political ambitions.

Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick-House Republicans are threatening an economic disaster that will devastate families in Florida’s 20th Congressional District.

Jared Moskowitz—Nothing could fuel the rise of China and destroy America’s reputation more than defaulting on our debt. So why then are so many House Republicans playing politics with America’s credit card?

Congressman Greg Steube-We took an important step today to secure our fiscal future & set our country on a path to a balanced budget.

The Limit, Save, Grow Act will rein in wasteful government spending while responsibly raising the debt ceiling to prevent a default.

A Pasco County man was recently murdered and dismembered by an associate of the El Salvadorean gang MS-13. Representative Gus Bilirakis (R), whose Congressional District covers much of Pasco, offered his condolences and reminded constituents that incidents such as these are precisely why border security should be a priority, criticizing the Biden Administration for allowing criminal organizations such as MS-13 to infiltrate the country.

"Initial reports indicate that this brutal crime in our community was perpetrated by someone with connection to the violent MS-13 gang that is well-known to have taken advantage of Biden’s loose border policies and illegally infiltrated communities across the country," said Rep. Bilirakis.

The Tampa Bay Times reports that Uber Eats driver Randall Cooke was making his last delivery of the day at the residence of Oscar Solis, not far from his own home. Security camera footage shows Cooke arriving at Solis' door when he was suddenly pulled inside.

Footage from the next day showed Solis and an accomplice dragging heavy trash bags around the side of the house, which police found to have Cooke's remains.

Pasco County authorities said the killing appears to have been random, with no indication of Solis knowing Cooke. Pasco County Sherriff Chris Nocco called the crime "demonic."

Rep. Bilirakis stated that his "thoughts and prayers go out to the Cooke family as they grapple with this devastating loss."

"My thoughts and prayers go out to the Cooke family as they grapple with this devastating loss. This is yet one more reminder of the need to enforce the rule of law, ensure law enforcement has the tools it needs to catch criminals keep us safe!" Bilirakis added.

Bilirakis has long been critical of the Biden Administration and its handling of the southern border, discussing the crisis with AM Tampa Bay in September, calling it "a national emergency."

Later in December, Bilirakis wrote with Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) demanding the Biden Administration classify fentanyl, which is frequently smuggled over the border, as a weapon of mass destruction (WMD).

At the end of February, Bilirakis reported, "For the 23rd month in a row, our border had more than 150k migrants illegally entering our country in January."

"For the 23rd month in a row, our border had more than 150k migrants illegally entering our country in January. Biden’s failed open border policies jeopardize our security. We're demanding more transparency + accountability!" Bilirakis stated.

The Law and Order Florida Legislature

The law and order-focused Republican-led Florida Legislature continues to push Gov. Ron DeSantis’s agenda in the 2023 legislative session.

Speaker Paul Renner is pushing a series of measures to aid law enforcement and to help increase the penalties individuals face when committing a crime.

One of those measures would require that only a jury majority is needed to sentence a criminal to death for raping a child.
