Florida Lawmakers React to Israel's Response to Global Iranian Drone Attack

Israel reportedly struck Iranian military facilities in central Iran late yesterday night in response to a global drone and missile attack executed by Iran against Israel earlier this week. 

Israel’s strike is the latest in a chain of intensifying military actions between the two states. 

The G7, an informal group of the wealthiest and largest democracies, condemned Iran’s attacks via press release this morning. 

However, the G7 responded to Israel’s latest strike inside Iran by urging “all parties to work to prevent further escalation.”

Florida lawmakers have responded to Israel’s recent strike in solidarity with the nation’s right to self-defense. 

So far, only Republican lawmakers have commented on Israel’s latest action. 

US Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), who has repeatedly warned of Iran’s destabilizing role in the middle east, supported Israel’s decision to strike back. 

“Of course Israel is responding to Iran,” said Rubio, “and the US needs to make it very clear whose side of this conflict we are on…we are on Israel’s side.”

US Representative Mike Waltz (R-FL) lamented the ongoing escalation of international conflict throughout the Middle East and blamed President Joe Biden for contributing to it. 

Representative Waltz claimed “Biden has lost control of the Middle East,” adding Biden’s de-escalation/appeasement strategy has led to full open warfare between Israel and Iran.”

US Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) expressed his support for Israel as the first reports of Israel’s attack on Iran emerged. 

Iran had vowed to respond with military action if Israel decided to respond to the former’s earlier drone and missile onslaught. 

However, the latest reports suggest Iran is not planning immediate retaliatory measures to Israel’s latest strikes. 

As the Middle East’s security situation spirals out of control, a political thunderstorm is brewing across the Atlantic over the House’s consideration of a $95 billion foreign aid package. 

While Speaker Mike Johnson had initially suggested he would not consider the bill, Johnson has allowed the bill to progress through the House, setting up a final vote on Saturday.

The move has cost Johnson support from conservatives, with three having officially requested he be removed as speaker.
