'Projecting Weakness': Steube Blames Biden for Nation's Vulnerability to Terrorists

Share

Representative Greg Steube (R-FL) released a statement regarding the terrorist attack in New Orleans. The attack was carried out by a Texas native and Army veteran, Shamsud-Din Jabbar. He fatally sped down Bourbon Street in a pickup truck brandishing an ISIS flag, leaving 15 people dead and 30 injured, per Reuters.

The Florida representative said that Republicans have been warning of imminent terrorist attacks and blamed President Joe Biden (D) and his administration for "projecting weakness" and "failing to enforce our laws."

"We’ve been warning for years: our country is extremely vulnerable to acts of terror after 4 years of the Biden administration projecting weakness to the world and failing to enforce our laws. ISIS must be fully rooted out," said Rep. Steube. "Confirming Trump’s nominees as quickly as possible is the best way to ensure the strength of both our homeland and our national security is restored. My prayers are with the victims of this horrific terror attack and their loved ones who grieve this New Year’s Day."

Rep. Steube blasted the Biden-Harris administration in August after a House Judiciary Committee report surfaced detailing that Border Patrol has released “at least 99” illegal aliens on the terrorist watch list into the United States. The report also revealed 27 illegal immigrants on the list were given bond by immigration judges, according to Fox News.

While the terrorist attack in New Orleans was committed by a Texas native, Steube warned that the Biden administration has made America "more vulnerable" to successful terrorist exploits. As stated above, he mentioned that President Biden had "failed to enforce our laws," seemingly referring to the crisis at the southern border.

“Under Biden-Harris, more than 360 individuals on the terror watchlist have been encountered at our border, and now we learned 99 have actually been recorded as released into our country. That’s a track record of 1 in 4! And what about the gotaways? Border security is national security, and the Biden-Harris open border has caused America to be more vulnerable to a terrorist attack than we’ve been in years,” said Rep. Steube told The Floridian. “This is dereliction of duty, and absolutely no one has been held accountable."

The Sugar Bowl, which is historically played on Jan. 1 in New Orleans and features Notre Dame and Georgia this year, was postponed to Jan. 2.
