Steube Comments on Classified Briefing on New Jersey Drones, 'People Have the Right to Know'

Strange drones have been spotted throughout New Jersey, sparking fears and concerns of their origin. The House Intelligence Committee is set to hold a classified briefing about the sightings, which Representative Greg Steube (R-FL) commented on in a recent appearance on Fox Business's Mornings with Maria, saying, "The American people, especially people in New Jersey and New York, have the right to know what these things are."

Sightings began in mid-November and have been the subject of conspiracy theories that they were launched by foreign adversaries, U.S. government drones, or even extraterrestrial craft. However, government officials have denied all three claims, with just 100 out of 5,000 tips considered worthy of investigation.

Nevertheless, Rep. Steube questioned why the House Intelligence briefing would be classified. Thus, "the Intelligence Committee better be getting the truth from these different government entities, and if it is classified, obviously they have a duty and obligation to keep it classified. But the American people, especially people in New Jersey and New York, have the right to know what these things are."

Rep. Steube further noted that people have attempted to shoot at or point lasers at what are believed to be drones but turned out to be manned aircraft and thus potentially endanger pilots.

"You have people that are talking about shooting them down. Obviously, if they are friendly or if they are law enforcement, then you do not want people shooting down drones that are being used for an official purpose or if they are commercial aircraft," the Florida Congressman continued.

As a result, Steube concluded, "Knowledge to the American people is important, for people to know what these are flying around their houses."

Last February, a Chinese spy balloon was spotted flying over much of the United States before being shot down, which the Biden Administration attempted to downplay despite evidence of the balloon conducting surveillance operations.
