Steube Leads Resolution Demanding NCAA Prohibit Biological Males from Women's Sports

Representative Greg Steube (R-FL) has introduced a resolution with Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) demanding that the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) reverse its rule allowing biological males to compete in women's sports.

In addition to the NCAA, the resolution implores all other sports-governing bodies to do the same and prohibit transgender-identified biological male athletes from competing in women's sports.

"Women's sports were created to ensure fairness and opportunity for female athletes," Rep. Steube said in his press release, further chastising the NCAA's allowance of transgender athletes, saying it "jeopardizes that fairness, putting women at a competitive disadvantage while creating safety threats."

Moreover, he suggested the rule rendered Title IX pointless, as "Denying biological reality erases decades of progress for women in sports and undermines the very foundation of Title IX."

Similarly, Sen. Blackburn said, "Young women across the country have suffered injuries, faced sexual harassment, and lost accolades because they were forced to share spaces designed for women with men."

She further noted that "The vast majority of Americans agree athletes should only be allowed to compete on teams that correspond with their biological sex." She condemned the allowance of transgender-identifying biological men to compete with women as "cowardly pandering" that "continues to put innocent girls in harm's way, and we must put an end to this assault on women once and for all."

Such a demand comes on the heels of Steube's Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act passing the House of Representatives with all Republicans and two Democrats voting in favor.

The Florida Congressman reintroduced the bill at the beginning of January, making a similar statement to Sen. Blackburn, saying, "The radical left is not in step with the American people on the issue of protecting women's sports. Americans have loudly spoken that they do not want men stealing sports records from women, entering their daughters' locker rooms, replacing female athletes on teams, and taking their daughters' scholarship opportunities."
