Trump Set to Close Fundraising Gap on Biden

Share

Although President Biden (D) has led President Trump (R) in campaign fundraising, the former president may close the funds gap with Biden with a fundraiser in Palm Beach, Florida.

Biden cashed in recently after hosting an event alongside President Clinton (D) and President Obama (D) In New York.

Last week Democrats raised $26 million in Radio City Music Hall, but the Trump camp is now claiming a record $50 million was pulled in from a fundraiser this past weekend.

John Paulson, a hedge-fund billionaire, hosted an event along with the Trump campaign, Save America PAC, the Republican National Committee, and state chapters of the GOP under a joint-fundraising agreement. Additionally, the former president also pulled in money from calling donors for financial support.

The fundraiser is crucial as it has been reported that Trump pulled money from donors in his party that have historically distanced themselves from Trump, representing a possible reunification of the GOP that the media has dubbed a split within the party.

NBC News reported a source who stated, "Saturday’s event signifies the GOP’s finance team is all back home."  And that the money, "Should produce a record haul.”

With civil and criminal charges, Trump has spent much funds on lengthy legal battles that could extend beyond the election season.

The cases have come close to barring Trump from being on the ballot in several states, which the Supreme Court has addresed.  The SCOTUS has unanimously decided previously that Trump could not be removed from being listed on ballots, keeping his troubles strictly financial.
